Established in 1983, St. John's Lutheran Hospital Foundation provides vital philanthropic support to St. John's Lutheran Hospital.
As the sole community hospital in the area, we must continually increase our services to meet the needs of a growing population. The expansion of the St. John's Lutheran Hospital Foundation, and its fundraising efforts, continues to play a paramount role in the delivery of quality healthcare to Lincioln County.
The Foundation Board is made up of 15 community volunteers. These dedicated individuals organize a number of fundraising events throughout the year, and also provide financial resource information to donors to assist them in finding the most tax advantaged method of gifting.
Over the years, the Foundation has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the benefit of your health and the health of your family and friends.
The Foundation's most recent accomplishments include the raising of $1,000,000 in the SJLH Qualified Permanent Endowment Fund and $250,000 to bring Digital Mammography to the residents of Lincoln County.
All donationns to St. John's Lutheran Hospital Foundation are tax deductible. The Executive Director of the Foundation would be happy to sit down with you to discuss your gifting options. The possbilities are endless and tax rewarding! Please call us 406-293-0106 or send us an email.

The Donor Wall of Honor
SJLH Society Membership-Donor Recognition
The Donor Wall of Honor represents donations of $500 or more to St. John's Lutheran Hospital Foundation from 1990 forward. Fundraising efforts prior to 1990 are recognized in other locations throughout the hospital.
Each donor, recognized on the wall for their generosity, becomes a member of the SJLH Society. Society members receive newsletters keeping them up to date on hospital activities, tickets to the Annual Society Appreciation Dinner and invitations to all hospital events.
Why Give to the SJLH Foundation?
Whether for you or your loved ones, you want the best healthcare possible when you need it. St. John's exists to serve those needs in our region. The Foundation exists to make sure that St. John's can continue to provide that care for years to come.
Donors give to the Foundation for many reasons: a concern for the future of St. John's, a desire to help the community, as a memorial to honor a loved one, or as a planned gift as part of an estate or tax plan. The SJLH Foundation is designed to accommodate all these needs and help our donors while they help us.
Gifting Options
Gifts of Cash Charitable gifts are most often made in the form of cash or checks. If you itemize your tax deductions, gifts of cash may be fully deductible up to 50% of your adjusted gross income. (AGI)
Gifts of Qualified assets Stocks, bonds, mutual funds, life insurance policies, real estate, works of art, and other items of value and other investments make attractive gifts because their full value is generally deductible from income tax and if you have held them for more than one year, allow you to by-pass capital gains that would otherwise be due on a sales.
Other Gift Options Retirement accounts. If you are 59 1/2 or older you can take a withdrawal from your retirement account to make your gift. You declare it as income on your tax return and then take the corresponding gift deduction. This generally results in a wash and the benefit to you is using retirement dollars to support charitable causes and never subjecting those dollars to income, gift, or estate taxes.
All donations to St. John's Lutheran Hospital Foundation are tax deductible. Each donor receives a receipt from the Foundation for any donation.
Through planned giving to the SJLH Permanent Endowment, you may also be eligible to receive a Montana State Tax Credit for your gift to St. John's. Please consult your CPA or attorney to find out how you may be eligible for this benefit.
The Executive Director of the Foundation would be happy to sit down with you to discuss your gifting options. The possbilities are endless and tax rewarding! Please call us 406-293-0106 or send us an email.
