Playing for Fundies Golf Tournament

Iris Remp and Bob Hensler, 2008 Best Dressed Award Winners!
Hospital Golf Tournament Raises Record
The field was full for the 16th Annual St. John’s Lutheran Hospital Foundation’s Playing For Fundsies Golf Tournament on Saturday, July 26, 2008, raising a record $30,000 for the SJLH Qualified Permanent Endowment Fund.
"Each year this tournament gains popularity at Cabinet View Country Club, and this year was no exception," commented KC Hoyer, Executive Director of the SJLH Foundation. "Expanding to 18-holes had its challenges, but once again our volunteer board pulled it off in fine style."
This year the tournament theme was Hawaiian. One hundred and twenty two Hawaiian clad golfers enjoyed lots of fun activities on and off the course. Returning champion in the Best Dressed category, Bob Hensler, proved once again that it takes a real man to wear a skirt. Bob won his fourth best dressed in tournament award by donning Hawaiian attire, including a grass skirt and the ever-popular coconut bra.

After the tournament, golfers enjoyed a Hawaiian Luau and awards ceremony.
Tournament winners were Jason and Leo Beck with a score of 58. Taking second by a six-team putt-off was team Flathead Electric--Earl Messick, Doug Killingsworth, Jim Shelly, and Rick Bloombahlm, with a score of 59. Third place went to team Fish, Wildlife, and Parks—Neil Benson, Tom Ostrowski, Ryan Sylvester, and Wayne Kasworm with a score of 60. Frontier Communication’s, Jason Moothart, Scott Kerzman, and Scott Noble took home the "proud to be a hacker award" for bringing up the rear

Other winners at the event where Andy Williamson, men’s long drive; Vicky Randall, women’s long drive; Larry Froberg, men’s long putt; and Iris Remp, women’s long putt. Gene Havens and Faye Schoknecht took home men’s and women’s closest to the pin awards.
The A-L Compressed Gas Team—Ed McElmurry, Bob Durham, Jeff Sides, and Rob Matherly, took the coveted best-dressed team award for their loud Hawaiian shirts and matching leis. Team Shadle - Faye Schoknecht, Dr. Tom Fennessy, Jim Shadle, and Pete Patterly won the most creative head attire, a new award developed just for this team’s ingenuity with their matching patriotic peace-sign headgear. And Iris Remp won best dressed female for her colorful, head to toe, Hawaiian apparel.
"The enthusiasm and creativity of the players at Fundsies never ceases to amaze me," added Hoyer. "These folks aren’t in this tournament to win big prizes. They are here to support their community hospital, and have some fun doing it. Every year they show their appreciation for local quality healthcare by supporting this event, and every year they continue to raise the bar. We’re looking forward to entertaining them again next year."
